How to Archive Posts in WordPress

Do you want to hide old posts form your WordPress blog? It would be nice if we could just archive posts just as we do on our email accounts, right? Well, you are on the right place, since we got these questions.

Our friends of WPBeginner have a great YouTube tutorial that explains how to archive the posts using a called: Archived Post Status, you can find it at the end of the post. Here is what you do:

  1. First install and activate the Archived Post Status plugin. It is preconfigured, so you are done with the plugin.
  2. Now, the plugin activated a custom post status called “Archived” to all your posts and pages.
  3. Go to the post you want to archive, look for the “Publish” menu on the top right corner and click “Edit”, then select “Archived” and finally “OK” and “Update”.

  4. The selected post will not appear on the front of your site, but you can still search and look for it in the admin area.

PS: You can archive multiple posts at the same time in the “Posts” screen. Select the ones you want to change and edit them to change their “Status” to archived.

You’re done! Now you can go hide some posts.
